Request for a Major Architectural Review application to allow the redevelopment of an approximately 4.86-acre portion of the site at 200 Portage Avenue. Scope of work includes the partial demolition of an existing commercial building and construction of (91) new Townhome Condominiums.

Environmental Assessment: A Draft Environmental Impact Report has been prepared by the City of Palo Alto for the 200 Portage Project.  In accordance with CEQA Guideline Section 15105, this document was available online for review during a 60-day circulation period beginning September 16, 2022 and ending November 15, 2022.

Request by The Sobrato Organization for a subdivision application to allow a tentative map for an approximately 4.86-acre portion of the site at 200 Portage Ave for the development of (91) new townhome condominiums.

Zoning District: RM-30 (Multi-Family Residential).

Request by Sobrato Organization for a Development Agreement, Planned Community rezoning, a Comprehensive Plan Amendment, and Major Architectural Review to allow the development of 74 townhomes, conversion of a 2,600 sf space that is currently automobile services to convert to Research and Development use, and construction of a new single story parking garage. The project would also allow 154,506 square feet of existing R&D space and 4,707 square feet of existing office space to remain at the site. The project includes modifications to, including partial demolition of, the former Fry’s building, which is eligible for the California Register of Historic Resources. The project would also include dedication of land and funds to the City for an affordable housing development as well as land for a park or other public open space use adjacent Matadero Creek. The project site is 14.65 acre property at 200-404 Portage Ave, 3040-3250 Park Blvd, 3201-3225 Ash St & 278 Lambert Ave. Zoning District: RM-30. This project is being evaluated as an alternative to the proposed 200 Portage Avenue Townhome Development Project and is discussed in the Draft EIR as Alternative 3 (Development Agreement Alternative).

Status: SB 330 Preliminary Application 

A preliminary application to redevelop an approximately 4.65-acre site at 200 Portage Avenue currently occupied by a portion of the former Fry’s Electronics building, with 85 ownership townhomes in Palo Alto, California.
