The March 10 S/CAP Ad Hoc Committee Meeting has been cancelled.

The next Ad Hoc Committee Meeting is on April 14 with a focus on carbon neutrality.

Climate Action Plan Blog Series: Funding and Financing Building Electrification

At the February 10, 2022 Ad Hoc meeting, funding and financing building electrification was discussed and experts from Clean Energy Works and the California Hub for Energy Efficiency Financing shared details on financing available. Approaches to financing individual electrification projects have historically not been inclusive; Dr. Hummel presented information about utilizing Inclusive Utility Investments. Miriam Joffee-Black presented about how Public-Private Partnerships are another option for financing building electrification through a state-run program called GoGreen. Last, working to identify and explore innovative funding sources for the City to implement its Draft S/CAP Three-Year Work Plan(PDF, 211KB) and full community-scale S/CAP effort rounded out the February meeting.

The City of Palo Alto launched an update to the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan (S/CAP) in 2020 to help meet our City's sustainability goals, including our goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2030. The S/CAP Ad Hoc Committee was formed by City Council on April 19, 2021 to guide the development, implementation, communication, and future community engagement of the S/CAP. The S/CAP Ad Hoc Committee is not subject to the requirements of the Brown Act. There will not be an agenda packet and minutes will not be taken. However, information about future meetings, including Open Town Hall Surveys, will be posted on our S/CAP Community Engagement page.
