Robbery Occurs Last Night at Colorado Avenue 7-Eleven Store

Published on December 06, 2020

Palo Alto, CA A suspect robbed the 7-Eleven convenience store in the Midtown neighborhood overnight.  No one was injured, and the suspect is at large.

On Saturday, December 5, 2020, at about 10:39 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from the clerk of the 7-Eleven convenience store at 708 Colorado Avenue reporting the store had just been robbed.  Officers arrived on scene shortly thereafter but were not able to locate the suspect.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store, selected an alcoholic beverage, and approached the register.  The suspect then reached into his jacket, claimed to have a gun, and demanded money and a mobile phone the clerk was holding.  The clerk, a male in his twenties, complied with the suspect’s demands.  The suspect fled on foot eastbound on Colorado Avenue.

The victim described the suspect as a male of at least 30 years of age.  He was wearing a black beanie and a black face covering with a Raiders logo on the left cheek, as well as a dark jacket and blue jeans.  The clerk never saw a weapon.  Two surveillance photos of the suspect are attached to this release.

The last time suspects robbed this particular 7-Eleven store was in August 2020. Two suspects in that case have been arrested by another law enforcement agency as part of a broader investigation involving a robbery series in multiple jurisdictions.  As that investigation is ongoing, no additional details are available for release.  Detectives do not believe last night’s robbery is connected but are continuing to investigate.
