Palo Alto, CA – Police are investigating a fatal solo-vehicle collision that occurred last night on San Antonio Road.
On Thursday, March 2, 2023, at about 10:15 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received multiple calls of a motorcyclist down in the roadway on San Antonio Road at Nita Avenue. Officers responded immediately, as did personnel from the Palo Alto Fire Department. Paramedics transported the motorcyclist, a woman in her twenties, to a local hospital, where she died a few hours later.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was riding a 2022 Kawasaki eastbound on San Antonio Road when the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a pole. Personnel from the Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team responded to the scene to continue the investigation. At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation. Police do not believe any other vehicle was involved. The roadway was closed for about four hours so officers could safely investigate the collision.
Police are not releasing the motorcyclist’s identity; that information can be obtained from the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner.
