Police Arrest Woman for Residential Burglary of Occupied Home

Palo Alto, CA – Police arrested a woman early on Friday morning after she broke a glass panel on the front door of an occupied residence and attempted to open the door. A resident confronted the suspect, who fled. Police arrested her nearby a short time later.
On Friday, May 13, 2022, at about 6:11 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a residential burglary in progress at a home in the 100 block of Alma Street. Officers responded immediately.
The investigation revealed that the victim, a man in his forties, was home with his family when he heard glass breaking. When he went to investigate, he saw someone’s hand reaching through a broken glass panel on the front door, attempting to unlock the dead bolt. He confronted the suspect, who then fled southbound on Alma Street on foot. The victim called police.
Officers located the suspect a short time later in the 200 block of Forest Avenue and took her into custody without incident. Police located suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her possession.
Police booked 48-year-old Kathleen Cuadros of Palo Alto into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for residential burglary (a felony), vandalism (a misdemeanor, for breaking the victim’s front door), possession of narcotics (a misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (a misdemeanor).
