Tsunami Warning Canceled

Initial Update: The National Weather Service Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning for the coastal areas of Oregon and California. Based on initial reports there does not appear to be immediate safety concerns or threats to Palo Alto and no evacuations are necessary at this time, though the situation is still under investigation. The tsunami warning was triggered by an earthquake near Eureka, California with United States Geological Survey (USGS) preliminary results of a 7.0 magnitude. Baylands closure in effect until the warning is lifted. There are currently no impacts to City operations from the earthquake.
