Smoke Impacts from Redwood City Structure Fire

Smoke is drifting towards Palo Alto and our surrounding communities due to the structure fire in Redwood City. Check out the Air Quality Index (AQI) local monitor to monitor air quality as changing winds can shift unexpectedly. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) forecasts moderate air quality through Thursday, June 6.

Stay Safe, Protect Your Health, and Practice These Tips

Smoke from the fire contains fine particulate matter and other harmful pollutants. It’s important for everyone to protect their health, especially those with respiratory illnesses, the elderly, and children.

• Remain indoors with windows and doors closed
• While driving, set your car vent system to recirculate to prevent outside air from entering
• Reduce activity level
• Shorten the amount of time you’re outdoors
• Use a portable air cleaner
• Wear an N95 mask
• Visit a Palo Alto Library, if needed for a reprieve from poor air quality and higher temperatures forecasts through Thursday
