Over a decade in the making, the grand opening of the Highway 101 Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge is scheduled to take place with a ribbon-cutting ceremony plus a community celebration on Saturday, November 20 at 10 a.m., weather permitting. Ahead of the grand opening, the new Adobe Reach Trail  connecting West Bayshore Road and East Meadow Drive opened on October 22! The new Highway 101 Pedestrian/Bike Bridge will connect the community all year round to amenities like the Baylands Golf Links, hiking and biking the Baylands Nature Preserve, experiencing Byxbee Park, connecting to the San Francisco Bay Trail, and so much more.

Grand Opening Details

The event begins with a speaker program at 10 a.m. on Nov. 20 on the Baylands side of the bridge, and ribbons will be cut on both sides of the bridge entrances on East and West Bayshore Roads. If you are traveling by bike or foot, use the map below to find a route to get to the East or West Bayshore side because the community will not be able access the bridge in advance of the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will happen around 10:15 a.m. Watch the speaker series live on YouTube on your phone!

Plus, Treatbot, the karaoke ice cream truck, will be serving free ice cream for all! (sans karaoke at this event)

Meet up with your neighbors and walk or bike over for a morning of fun, excitement and a community event for everyone to enjoy.

Biking / Walking Directions

We hope you bike or walk to the ribbon cutting ceremony and community celebration. This new map(PDF, 1MB) shows all the bike friendly routes to get to the Highway 101 Pedestrian / Bike Bridge!

The event will be livestreamed on YouTube, so there is no need to go to the East Bayshore side to watch. If you would like to watch the ceremony on the East Bayshore side, please note that the Benjamin Lefkowitz underpass remains closed and the closest other crossing is San Antonio Road.
