As a mark of respect for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and in accordance with City policies and procedures, City flags Palo Alto City Hall, the Municipal Service Center, and all City buildings and fire stations are being flown at half-staff in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, December 7.

From a proclamation by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. released on December 6, 2024: "I encourage all Americans to reflect on the courage shown by our brave service members that day and remember their sacrifices. I ask us all to give sincere thanks and appreciation to the survivors of that unthinkable day."

A resolution approved by Congress in 1994 designates December 7 of each year as “National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day,” and directs that all flags be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sundown.
