Crossbore Phase IV-A

Project Description

The Crossbore Phase IV-A Project will inspect 473 private and public sewer laterals throughout the City to verify natural gas pipelines were not installed within the sanitary sewer lateral service. When a natural gas pipeline is unintentionally installed within the sewer lateral, it is known as a Crossbore and must be repaired immediately.

This Crossbore inspection project will be conducted by the City’s Water-Gas-Wastewater Utilities Operations staff. City crews will perform a camera inspection of the private and public sewer lateral to complete the inspection.

Notification letters will be sent to residents prior to the inspection. On inspection days, City crews will inform available residents on-site about the inspection at their property. Residents are not required to be on-site for the inspection.

Access to the front yard, backyard, and side yard will be needed to locate sewer cleanouts. If locked yard access is required, the City will contact the resident to gain access.

The 473 sewer lateral inspections are divided into 4 quadrant areas within the City.

  • Quadrant 1 includes 44 sewer inspections on the South side of Alma Street between Sand Hill Road (including Clark Way) and Page Mill Road.
  • Quadrant 2 includes 139 sewer inspections on the North side of Alma Street between Palo Alto Avenue and Oregon Expressway.
  • Quadrant 3 includes 199 sewer inspections on the North side of Alma Street between Oregon Expressway and San Antonio Road.
  • Quadrant 4 includes 91 sewer inspections on the South side of Alma Street between Page Mill Road and San Antonio Road.

Construction Schedule

The project is anticipated to start in September of 2024. Inspection hours will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Inspections will start on Quadrants 1 and 4 and should be completed by the end of the year.

Additional work may be needed for laterals that require further inspection.
