Utilities Bill Pay

City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) offers several ways to pay your bill. Simplify your life by paying your monthly bill directly from your checking account. Use our convenient Automatic Bank Drafting service; it's free of charge to Palo Alto residents and businesses.

Online

Make recurring or one-time payments by using a credit card or checking account on MyCPAU, our secure customer service website.

Step 1.Requirements

  • Must be an existing Palo Alto Utilities Customer
  • If you have not set up your Utilities service, please contact Utilities Customer Service

Step 2.Information Needed

  • Current email address used to set up your account
  • Account Password

For new MyCPAU account setup:

  • Utilities account number
  • Last 4 digits of your primary ID provided during start of service
  • Primary and current email address
  • Password must include:
    • 8-30 characters
    • One uppercase letter
    • One lowercase letter
    • One number 
    • One special character

Step 3.Utilities Bill Payment

For one-time payment follow these steps:

  • Click on the "My Account" tab
  • In the sub menu, click "Payment Information"
  • On the top right, click "Add Payment Method"
  • Enter Credit, Debit or Checking account details
  • Make sure the payment method is set as the default and click "Save" at the bottom of the page

For recurring payment follow these steps: 

  • Click on the "Billing" tab
  • In the sub menu, click "Auto Pay"
  • Choose the payment method
  • Choose how many days the payment with draft before the due date

MYCPAU

Step 4. Payment Confirmation

You will receive a confirmation message of payment in your MyCPAU inbox, located under the Notifications tab

Note: Bank draft is effective immediately after your bank draft application is processed. If there is an outstanding balance on your account at the time the application is processed, the total amount will be drafted and your account will begin the routine drafting one to five days prior to future bill due dates

Step 1.Gather your information

  • Payment Stub from your utility bill
  • Account number

Step 2.Mail in or drop off your check at the drop box

Located on the Ground floor. Walk past the Revenue Collections Customer Services Counter, towards the Council Chambers and make a right. 

Step 3.Pay your bill with a Credit Card

Pay your bill with a debit/credit card with our Customer Service Representative. 
If paying with cash or check, please visit the Revenue Collections Counter.

Step 4.Confirmation & Receipt

After a debit/credit card payment is processed, a payment receipt will be provided for your records.
