Police Data Initiative
The Police Data Initiative promotes the use of open data to encourage joint problem solving, innovation, enhanced understanding, and accountability between communities and the law enforcement agencies that serve them. For more information, visit the Police Data Initiative website.
Here at the Palo Alto Police Department, we were one of the first police departments in the United States to commit to contributing data to this important initiative in February 2018. We currently have four datasets available for public review: traffic citations and warnings, vehicle collision investigations, calls for service, and Racial and Identity Profiling Act (RIPA) data. Additional datasets may be added in the future.
