Heritage Park

2.01 acres offer open space for quiet time or impromptu activities. A sentinel redwood stands center stage.

History

Palo Alto’s newest park sits on the former site of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. The Foundation moved in 1999, and  negotiations between Summerhill Homes (new property owners), the city of Palo Alto, the Medical Foundation, and the neighbors led to several acres being set aside for a park. In 2003 the city approved an interim park; groundbreaking took place in 2004, and on March 12, 2006 Heritage Park had its grand opening. A slow economy and a tight budget limited park amenities.

Of Special Interest

Anchored in the playground’s sand area is a large coast live oak that was moved in 2003 from 819 Ramona Street to the park.
