Forever

The "sinker redwood" comes from Mendocino coast old growth redwood logs that were lost in river bottoms and never made it to the saw mills in the logging days. The wood has absorbed minerals over the century to give it purple and grey hues. The douglas fir was reclaimed from the Hoover Institution library at Stanford. Thus, the object's name celebrates its past, present, and its future.
