About the artist
Water figures prominently in San Francisco artist Ana Teresa Fernández’s biography: she learned to swim when she was three years old, was a competitive swimmer, and is currently an avid surfer. Her artwork also explores themes of water, particularly around its connection to identity. Performance is a primary tool in the artist’s multimedia practice that, which includes community-based projects, public art, sculpture, performance, video, and large-scale oil paintings.
