Kira Dominguez Hultgren
About the artist:
Kira Dominguez Hultgren, a Chicago-based textile artist, draws on her Punjabi, Chicanx and Hawaiian heritage and employs an anthropological lens in her weaving practice. She describes her creative process as "reading textile," reflecting her engagement with the historical and symbolic significance of fabric. In her CAPTCHA series, the artist bridges two influences: feminist craft and human-computer interaction (HCI).
Kira Hultgren Dominguez received her BA in Comparative Literature from Princeton and MFA from California College for the Arts. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois.
