Council Race & Equity Ad Hoc Committees
In 2020, Former Mayor Fine organized the City Council into four Council Ad Hoc committees to lead on specific focus areas and guide the work underway.
2020 Council Ad Hoc Committees on Race and Equity
These Ad Hoc Committees concluded their work in November 2020 and the work of the Committees was transferred to the Standing City Council Policy and Services Committee for 2021 and beyond.
The final report and recommendations are available for the November 16, 2020 City Council Meeting and Action Minutes.
Police Policy Manual, Data, and Hiring
This ad hoc explored police department operations, sought to understand how the department regularly interacts with everyone in our community, and probed what is shown by the data we collect. It also began to look at the hiring and promotional processes for our police department.

Alternative Public Safety Service Models
This ad hoc examined alternative service delivery options for public safety. These alternative options ideas were summarized in the November 2020 report to City Council and included things like CAHOOTS (operating out of Eugene, Oregon), a consolidated Public Safety model such as Sunnyvale’s Department of Public Safety, iterations to our current model and different approaches to respond to vulnerable members of our community (i.e., PERT).
