Translation services are available for every City Council meeting through the Wordly app. Live translation enables community members to fully engage in City Council meetings in the language of their choosing. Wordly is an independent company that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide real-time simultaneous translation into audio and text. Translations are delivered in meaningful segments to make it easy for participants to follow along. Wordly supports over 50 languages; please see below for a full list.
Participants may connect to Wordly on their own smart phone or device during a Council meeting. You do not need to create a Wordly account or download the app to access live translation. Once connected, attendees can read translated text and/or listen to translated audio directly on their personal device.
The City Clerk has loaner devices available if you don't have access to one - please contact the Clerk's Office to borrow a one. If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact the Clerk's Office at city.clerk@cityofpaloalto.org or (650) 329-2571.
