Submit a Proclamation Request

Thank you for your interest in obtaining a proclamation from the Mayor's office. All proclamations are issued at the Mayor's discretion. Please complete the form below and include suggested language for your proclamation. You may also attach a Word document of your suggested language. If submitting by Word document, please input the proposed language on our official Proclamation Template Word Document(DOCX, 116KB).

Steps

Step 1.Guidelines

  1. For timely approval and finalization, please request with a 30-day notice.
  2. The Mayor reserves the right to approve or decline a proclamation request.
  3. Draft language submitted may be edited at the discretion of the Mayor.
  4. It is strongly recommended to reference the Sample Proclamation(PDF, 179KB) when drafting your proclamation.
    Please note: The character limit is 1800 characters (approximately 350 words), which includes the 'Whereas' and the final 'Now Therefore' language.

Step 2.Prepare your request

To enable staff to respond to your request as efficiently as possible, please include:

  • Name of the individual, organization, or event to be honored;
  • Date of the proclamation;
  • Title of the proclamation;
  • Proposed proclamation text; and,
  • Date by which the proclamation is needed.

Step 4.We will contact you

Your Proclamation Request will be forwarded to the Mayor for review, and you will be sent a confirmation email. If any additional information is needed, the City Clerk's Office staff will reach out to the contact information provided.
