The Planet Protection Pledge helps you discover actions and connects you to resources that support reaching your climate and sustainability goals.

Pledge five actions you will take this year and complete them all to become a Local Climate Hero. It’s simple to participate, whether you are new to sustainability or a seasoned environmentalist. Join your neighbors in shaping a greener future, one pledge at a time!

Download your pledge sheet here(PDF, 674KB). You can edit and save a virtual copy, or print it out and put it somewhere you see it every day as a daily reminder of your goals.

Choose five actions you want to take this year from this list of action ideas based on your climate and sustainability priorities. Each action has resources to help you complete them.

Step 3.Take action!

Complete the actions on your pledge sheet and check them off as you go. Share your experiences along the way with #PaloAltoPlanetPledge.

How does the Planet Protection Pledge relate to the S/CAP?

The Sustainability and Climate Action Plan (S/CAP) is a comprehensive document laying out the City's strategy for achieving our ambitious carbon reduction targets, while improving our natural environment, adapting to climate impacts, and increasing livability for Palo Alto residents. While the City has many active programs and initiatives to implement the S/CAP, we cannot achieve our ambitious goals without the involvement of Palo Alto residents.

The Planet Protection Pledge empowers our community play an active role in achieving the goals of the S/CAP. By participating, residents can discover actionable steps to address their climate and sustainability priorities and connect with resources and programs available to support them.

I completed my pledge but want to do more! What can I do?

The Climate Pledge is a tool to get you started on your sustainable living journey. Making long-term changes to live a more sustainable lifestyle can make the largest impact. Keep exploring our action ideas for more helpful habits you can integrate into your life.
