Valley Water Meeting to Discuss Palo Alto Flood Basin Project

Valley Water Meeting to Discuss Palo Alto Flood Basin Project

Valley Water will host a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, June 24 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the current replacement project proposal for the Palo Alto Flood Basin Tide Gate Structure. The structure, built in 1957 has exceeded its projected life. Located where the Palo Alto Flood Basin connects to the San Francisco Bay, half a mile northeast of the Byxbee Park parking lot on the Adobe Creek Loop Trail, it serves to capture rain runoff during the rainy season, detains flows within the flood basin during high tide and releases flows into the San Francisco Bay during low tide.

The meeting will look at the current design concept and the next steps associated with this project. Additional details and a link to the meeting can be found here.

Valley Water provides flood protection to homes, businesses, schools and highways. You can learn more about the project here.
