Census Deadline Extended Due to Coronavirus Pandemic
The "official" kick-off for the 2020 Census was April 1, but due to the current Coronavirus health crisis, the deadline to respond has been extended until August 14. However, you should have already received your Census material in the mail. You can complete the form online for the first time this year! Or you can mail it in after the next letter arrives in the mail.
Every 10 years the U.S. Census attempts to count everyone in the country. Census results are the basis for congressional representation and help determine how more than $675 billion in federal funds is distributed each year to support vital programs in states and communities across the country. These funds shape local health care, housing, education, transportation, employment, and public policy. That’s why it is so important to be counted.
