Increasing Public Safety and Resiliency
February 17 marks the 10th anniversary of a plane crash that killed three people onboard shortly after take-off from the Palo Alto Airport. The crash also caused damage to homes in East Palo Alto and an extended power outage in Palo Alto, resulting in a major emergency response by several City departments and other public safety agencies. As a City, we always strive to increase public safety and emergency response, and that fateful day also strengthened our resolve to focus on resiliency and long-range planning to mitigate risks and operational vulnerabilities from events such as this.
