New Downtown Garage On Hold
Plans to build a new downtown garage on Hamilton Avenue and Waverly Street are on hold for now. On Monday, Feb. 11, Council unanimously pushed the pause button on the project until the Policy and Services Committee can assess whether there is still a need for it.
The garage was part of the City’s infrastructure plan and meant to address concerns about commute traffic parking in neighborhoods. Since then, the downtown Residential Preferential Parking program has helped to ease things, and fast forward to today where the Council is considering the cost and environmental impact of the garage.
