Experience Diwali Festival of Lights
The Palo Alto City Library invites the community to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 3-6 p.m. This free event includes fun, cultural activities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, including music, dance, henna, crafts, and more.
Diwali, which means “row of lamps,” is celebrated every autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and signifies the triumph of light over dark or good over evil. Attendees can experience traditional Diwali activities, including music and dance performances and traditional rangoli art from India at the festival. The rangoli art activity will take place outside Rinconada Library, but the performances and other activities will take place across the way at the Palo Alto Art Center.
“We are excited to bring back this celebration for a second year after it drew large crowds and so much interest last year,” said Library Director Monique le Conge Ziesenhenne. "We look forward to a festive afternoon to gather and engage with our community, celebrating this event that recognizes our city’s rich cultural diversity."
The program is organized by the Palo Alto City Library and sponsored by the Friends of the Palo Alto Library. Find more details here.
