You can catch these acts at various venues, including the Mitchell Park Amphitheatre, Rinconada Park and California Avenue. Downtown Palo Alto’s Music on the Plaza  kicks-off July 12 with performances at Lytton Plaza on Emerson Street each Thursday through August 16. Some of the acts include Mission Street Beets, the Groove Doctors, Chris Cain and the JC Smith Band. Showtime is from 6-8 p.m.

The Music is Magic summer concert series takes place on Fridays from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Magical Bridge Playground in Mitchell Park with children favorites such as Andy Z, Octopretzel, Noise Lab and Soul Providers.

This year marks the 37th year of the Palo Alto Chili Cookoff that takes place every 4th of July. Come out to Mitchell Park from noon to 5 p.m. to try some of the best chili around.
