Community Meeting to Review the Draft Parks Master Plan

Community Meeting to Review the Draft Parks Master Plan

The City is holding a community meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1 to share the Draft Parks, Trails, Open Space & Recreation Master Plan document. This is the final stage in the development of the Master Plan, and it gives the community the opportunity to review the document and provide input. The meeting will be held in the Adobe Room at the Mitchell Park Community Center from 6:30-8 p.m.

Palo Alto has 36 parks and open space preserves covering approximately 4,165 acres, plus over 40 miles of trails. Last summer, the public was invited to take a feedback survey and share their vision for the 25-year Master Plan.

The goal of the Parks, Trails, Natural Open Space and Recreation Master Plan is to gain clear guidance on future renovations, capital improvement projects, and funding for parks, trails, open space and recreation facilities. It is also needed to ensure that open space and the needs of future generations are appropriately balanced. The last comprehensive Master Plan for the City's parks was completed in 1965.
