Middlefield Road Resurfacing/Restriping Open House, June 9
The Planning and Community Environment Department invites community members to attend an Open House on Thursday, June 9 at the City Hall Council Chambers between 6:30pm – 8:30pm to learn about a minor roadway restriping project along Middlefield Road between Channing Avenue and Oregon Expressway and North California Avenue between Alma Street and Jordan Middle School.
As part of the City's continuing efforts to maintain and improve City streets, Middlefield Road and North California Avenue are slated to be resurfaced by the Public Works Department in the summers of 2016 and 2017.
In keeping with the City’s adopted policies on complete streets, and continued implementation of the Palo Alto Bicycle & Pedestrian Transportation Plan, improvements to roadway striping are proposed to improve the safety of all roadway users and improve the functionality of the street.
City staff invites community members to learn about the revised proposals, which include measures to reduce overall vehicle speeds, installation of a separated bikeway in front of Jordan Middle School, and the addition of new crosswalks where needed. In response to community feedback from the last proposal for Middlefield Road, the current proposal maintains most existing on-street parking on both side of Middlefield Road.
Additional information on this project can be found on the City’s website at: https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/gov/depts/pln/transit/transportation_projects/middlefield_road_north.asp
