Emergency Responders Collaborate on Three-Alarm Fire

First responders from Palo Alto Fire and Police were dispatched to a large home at 8:55 a.m. and arrived on scene five minutes later. As crews worked on the structural fire, police blocked off streets around the home to allow a safe working environment and to keep the neighborhood safe while the fire was raging. In addition to first responders, the City's building inspectors and Utilities personnel arrived on scene within 20 minutes to check the building structure and turn off utility services. No one was injured during this incident and the fire was doused within one hour.

Fire Chief Nickel stated, "Palo Alto is fortunate to have a full-service City where emergency responders are able to work collaboratively with others both within and outside the organization. Having numerous departments within organization plays an integral role in successfully responding to emergency situations."

Other agencies that assisted on scene included Santa Clara County Fire, Mountain View Fire, Fire Associates and the Red Cross.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
