The existing storm drain system serving the Southgate neighborhood relies on surface flow along street gutters to a single drain inlet at the corner of Sequoia and Mariposa Avenues.  Uneven gutters cause chronic ponding along neighborhood streets.  The goal of the proposed project is to provide improved drainage performance through the use of innovative and environmentally friendly techniques that reduce storm runoff, eliminate ponding, and enhance neighborhood aesthetics in a way that also encourages bicycle and pedestrian travel.
