Water Engineering and Operations

The City of Palo Alto Water Engineering Section is responsible for planning, designing, budgeting and construction of major capital improvements to the city’s water distribution system. This program replaces approximately 15,000 lineal feet of water mains each year. Additionally, Water Engineering is implementing an Emergency Water Supply and Storage Project to increase the City’s water system storage and supply reliability during catastrophic emergencies.

The Water Operations Section is responsible for maintaining, operating, and ensuring water quality conforms to drinking water standards.
