A customer who does not use any natural gas but has a meter may request removal of his or her gas meter, with the approval of the property owner, in order to officially terminate the monthly "Customer Charge." Gas meter removal is free upon request; however, the re-establishment of natural gas service will be treated as a request for new natural gas service and follow the procedures for installing a new natural gas meter. The current cost for replacement of a residential gas meter is $167 (subject to change in the future). Additional cost associated with the reinstallation of a gas meter is the responsibility of the customer.
