Hazardous Waste Management Program

http://www.cityofpaloalto.org/hazwaste
The Household Hazardous Waste Management program provides Palo Alto residents and small businesses with an environmentally safe, convenient way to dispose of unwanted hazardous household products such as paints, solvents, fuels, cleaners, pesticides, etc., which contain hazardous substances.

SMaRT Station
In 1994, Palo Alto entered an agreement with the cities of Mountain View and Sunnyvale to transport solid waste to the Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer (SMaRT®) Station. At the SMaRT Station, reducing the amount of garbage landfilled is taken to the next level of efficiency. At the SMaRT Station, garbage from residents and businesses in Palo Alto is sorted and additional recyclable materials are removed from the waste stream.
