Office Of The City Manager

To lead the City in providing exemplary service and creating partnerships with citizens in an ever changing environment, in response to the City Council priorities

Welcome to the Office of the City Manager for the City of Palo Alto.  Palo Alto, located next to Stanford University on the San Francisco Peninsula, is home to beautiful natural preserves, historic architecture, and a comprehensive network of bicycle routes.  With a strong intellectual community and culture of innovation, the city is a gathering place for pioneers of emerging industries.

City Manager Jim Keene supports the Council priorities of  Environmental Protection,  Economic Health,  and  Civic Engagement for the Common Good.  A primary responsibility of the City Manager is to assure that City services are performed in accordance with Council policies and within the capability of the City's resources. The City Manager also keeps the Council advised of the financial condition and future needs of the City.

In order to engage the public in the Proposed FY 2010 and FY 2011 Budget process, the City Manager has held two Community Budget Forums and has made his presentation available online for citizen feedback.
