The Palo Alto City Library connects our diverse community through knowledge, resources, and opportunities.  We nurture innovation, discovery, and delight.

The library has five branches, and we benefit from the combination of the superb Friends of the Palo Alto Library and an extremely generous public constituency. Through this support, the library is able to provide programming for all ages, enrich our collections and furnish our facilities.

In 2022, Palo Alto City Library was recognized by the Library Journal’s Index of Public Library Service as a 5-star library. This is the highest possible recognition and an elevation from the previous year’s 4-star rating. Read the full news release here.
