Foothills Park has three areas that can be reserved: A group picnic area, camping sites and a meeting room. Please note that Foothills Park is open to Palo Alto residents and accompanied guests only.
Picnic Areas
Foothills Park has seven picnic areas available to residents and their guests which offer a variety of sites; tables, barbeques, and water are available. Individual tables are all "first come - first serve" and cannot be reserved. The Oak Grove Picnic Area is the one picnic area that can be reserved for exclusive use. Any group of more than 25 people must have a permit; the Oak Grove group picnic area may be reserved.
The Oak Grove picnic area is located on the lower meadow, past the Interpretive Center in the shade of large oaks. It will accommodate up to 150 people and provides tables in long rows, two large barbeques for charcoal fires, water and a restroom. Parking is located conveniently nearby.
Camping
Towle Camp is a seasonal campground available to residents and their guests for tent camping from May 1 to October 31.
At the end of Wildhorse Valley, eight peaceful campsites are nestled under the trees, each site offers a charcoal barbeque, water, picnic table, tent area and a food box. Group sites for up to 16 people are also available. Campsites can be reserved up to one year in advance. Many Friday and Saturday nights are booked two to six months in advance. Sunday through Thursday nights are often available that same week.
Interpretive Center Meeting Room
Inside the Interpretive Center is a meeting room that can accommodate up to 50 residents and their guests. It provide a great location for a quiet retreat, business meeting or a party. The room opens on to a private patio with two picnic tables and to the public space in the Interpretive Center lobby. Tables and chairs are available to meet your needs. Additional equipment, such as a overhead projector, TV, VCR and DVD player, can be rented.
Making Reservations
Rental applications are available by mail or in person at the main counter at Lucie Stern Community Center during regular business hours and downloadable under via the link at the bottom of this page (Scroll down to Foothills Park Facility Use Application). The applications can also be mailed or faxed from Foothills Park upon request by calling 650-329-2423.
Reservations can be made up to one year in advance, but must be made at least 24 hours in advance at Lucie Stern Community Center. For same day reservations or more information please call Foothills Park at 650-329-2423.
