PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Welcome to the 2009-2010 JLS, Jordan, and Terman Athletics Programs, run by the Palo Alto Unified School District with the help of the City of Palo Altos Community Services Department! Our mission is to provide a safe and positive after school environment where students can take pride in representing their school in league play. Only 6th-8th grade students at Jordan, JLS, or Terman Middle Schools are eligible to participate.
PROGRAM LOGISTICS
- Practices take place at the school site on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:30pm. (Additional practices are at the discretion of the coach).
- Games / meets take place 2-3 times per week between 4 and 7 pm.
- All schools participate in the Art David Athletic League, which includes school in Half Moon Bay. Transportation is not provided!
- Game schedules and carpooling information will be provided at Parent Night. For more information about Parent Night and other important announcements, please provide us with your e-mail address on page 2 of the registration form.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
- Skill Evaluations: Volleyball and basketball teams have 2 divisions, A and B. Division assignments are determined by the coaches and athletic directors at skill evaluations, which take place the week before practice begins.
- A Player Expectations: The A league is more competitive and A teams will play the most competitive teams in the league. Participants are encouraged to attend practice as often as possible and practices may take place more than 3 times a week. Playing time can be used as a penalty for unexcused absences.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Beginning the 2009-2010 school year, due to increasing enrollment, registration forms will be accepted on the published dates on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, please download the Terman registration form. No early registration forms will be accepted and parents will no longer be able to register for multiple seasons in advance.
- Fall Season: Cross Country, Flag Football, Girls Volleyball, Golf
First Day to Register: Monday, August 31 at 8:30 a.m.
- Winter Season 1: 7th and 8th grade Basketball
First Day to Register: Monday, October 5 at 8:30 a.m.
- Winter Season 2: 6th grade Basketball
First Day to Register: Monday, December 7 at 8:30 a.m.
- Spring Season: Track and Field, Tennis, Wrestling
First Day to Register: Monday, February 1 at 8:30 a.m.

Walk-In: Walk-in your completed registration form with payment to the Lucie Stern Community Center, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA 94301.
Fax-In: Fax your completed registration form to (650) 321-5612.

Refunds: Cancellation requests must be submitted 5 business days prior to the start date of the season.
Financial assistance: is available through the Fee Reduction Program for those who qualify.
