Description:
Adult Protective Services (APS) provides comprehensive social services to elders and dependent adults in Santa Clara County who are victims of abuse, neglect, or self-neglect, and responds immediately to reports of imminent risk or life threat 24/7. Services include investigation, assessment, counseling, development of a service plan, case management and referrals to community agencies. The goals of APS are to reduce risk to an elder or dependent adult, to promote his/her day-to-day functioning by enhancing personal strengths, establishing support systems and assisting the person in protecting his/her own interests. Services are provided without regard to income, and acceptance is voluntary. All APS social workers are specially trained in working with abuse and neglect victims. Some APS staff further specialize in emergency response, financial abuse investigations or working with diverse populations. In San Mateo county, call 800-675-TIES(8437)
