Description: Provides services to individuals and families where loss or impairment of vision threatens independence and quality of life. Services offered to help visually impaired people function more effectively include specialized information and referral, social services, training in activities of daily living, imobility training (cane travel training), employment services, braille instruction, computer instruction, low vision clinic, and individual and family counseling. It also has a very active client youth group. Most work is done in the client's home. The center has a reference library of medical information on vision loss. It publishes a newsletter for clients three times a year. A volunteer program helps to provide ongoing support to clients.
